Our History
The Taylor And Wright® story began in 1967, when friends and fashion enthusiasts James Taylor and Mark Wright opened a small tailor shop in London. Frustrated by the lack of stylish, well-made suits and formalwear at accessible prices, they set out to make quality men’s fashion available to all.
Operating out of a tiny storefront, James and Mark worked tirelessly to craft beautiful suits, shirts, and accessories. Word quickly spread about their attention to detail, use of fine fabrics, and the way their clothes made men look and feel their best. Within a few short years, the shop had grown into a thriving business.
In 1975, James and Mark expanded with a larger store and modest clothing factory. They began producing ready-to-wear collections based on their custom designs, bringing their craftsmanship and style to more customers.
As their collections gained popularity, the partners opened more stores across the UK. In the 1980s they launched the first Taylor And Wright® catalogue, mailing it to homes nationwide.
Today, with over 350 stores and a robust ecommerce site, Taylor And Wright® has grown into one of Britain’s most beloved and respected men’s fashion brands – but our founding ethos remains unchanged.

Pieces undergo multiple quality checks throughout production. Once complete, our quality control team thoroughly inspects each garment before it leaves the factory.
